Today I want to quickly talk about picking ourselves back up after feeling a bit under the weather; not from motivational speech or a feel-good message – but from some of the fundamental truths in the Bible.
I know this, you know this, your grandma knows this, even your pet frog knows this – we all know this – our flesh is weak. And as children of God we are constantly relying on God for strength (or should be!)… But sometimes without even realising it, we strive to accomplish things through our own strength – only to fail; and that’s been true for me recently.
Today I woke up feeling really defeated; I didn’t physically have any energy or motivation to do anything, even to eat (that’s when you know it’s real lol!) I had a short meeting at church before the service but I was planning to leave and go home straight after and not attend the actual service. I was tired, emotionally battered and bruised, and I just couldn’t bear to be my usual happy-cheery self because underneath the smile I was feeling completely detached. Fortunately I ended up staying for the service and God really blessed me and comforted me. But I had to ask myself…
“Why do you feel like this?”
Has God stopped being God? Has His hand of comfort departed from you? Have you stopped being a daughter of The Most High? Has your impossible become impossible for God too?
The answer to all these questions is NO.
God will always be God!
“Before the mountains were born, before You gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, YOU ARE GOD.” (Psalms 90:2 NLT)
He is the source of all my comfort and He calls us to extend this to others.
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the SOURCE of ALL comfort. He comforts us in ALL our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT)
God chose me to be His daughter before I was even born – I’m not going anywhere!
“Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He WANTED to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.” (Ephesians 1:4-5 NLT)
The term “impossible” doesn’t exist to God!
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God ALL THINGS are possible.”” (Mark 10:27 NKJV)
“I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13 NLT)
I believe that a lot of the worries and stresses we encounter in our lives can easily be eradicated by reminding ourselves of our unshakeable identity, and the character and trustworthiness of the God we serve. Instead of helplessly presenting our circumstances to God, I believe that as children of God we can speak into situations and bring forth the influence of the all powerful, everlasting God we call Abba (Dad). I truly desire to no longer behave as the baby-girl in the house of My Father but to be a fully-grown, mature daughter and co-heir with Christ. Part of that maturity is being fully rooted in my identity and dwelling in/freely accessing my God-given inheritance.
I know a lot of us will have a challenging week ahead but I dare you to enter it with peace, with confidence, and with assurance that God knows the plans He has for you! Plans of good and not of evil (Jeremiah 29:11).
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:24 NKJV)
I urge you to continually refresh and uplift your soul with the healing word of God; let’s not allow satan to steal our joy but boldly declare “Thus says The Lord *insert scripture that applies to your circumstance*”. The bible says we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities and spiritual forces (Eph 6:12)… Do you know that your sword in the spirit, your weapon of war, is the word of God? (Eph 6:17)
See you soon guys,
Lots of love x
